RICHLAND, Wash. —

Olympian Hope Solo's grandmother, 85-year-old Alice Shaw of Richland, stars as a goalie in a short film directed by actor Colin Cunningham.

The Tri-City Herald reports ( http://is.gd/BNN8uX) the two met in January when Shaw went to Vancouver to watch Solo in a women's soccer qualifying game for the London Olympics. She was a guest at the same hotel as Cunningham, who stars in the TNT drama series "Falling Skies."

Cunningham was looking for an actress for a short film he was directing called "Goal!" about a newspaper delivery boy who faces a scary neighbor in a penalty kick. They shot Shaw's scene in Richland in February.

Hope Solo grew up in Richland and wrote in her autobiography "A Memoir of Hope" that her grandmother was an inspiration.
