STEVENSON, Wash. —

A Vancouver man drowned in a boating accident on the Swift Reservoir in southwest Washington.

The Skamania County sheriff's office says 49-year-old Grant Kelly and his brother were thrown into the water Wednesday afternoon when their boat made a sharp turn as they returned from a fishing trip.

Undersheriff Dave Cox says they were picked up by other boaters, but efforts to revive Kelly failed and he was pronounced dead at the Swift Forest Camp boat ramp.

Cox says Kelly's brother was treated at a hospital and released.

The men were not wearing life jackets at the time of the accident.
