The National Weather Service says Seattle-Tacoma International Airport recorded a high temperature of 94 on Thursday - that spot's hottest day so far this year.
Meteorologist Allen Kam says Sea-Tac hit 93 several times earlier in August.
Other highs Thursday included 100 for Vancouver Airport, 97 for Shelton and 96 for Olympia. On the coast, Hoquiam had a high of 83 and Quillayute hit 89.
Kam says surging marine air is expected to cool down the coast on Friday and may bring down temperatures as far north as Tacoma. Other spots in the Puget Sound region may be as warm or warmer on Friday.
In Eastern Washington, hot, dry, unstable weather conditions are expected Friday and Saturday, with some isolated thunderstorms possible Saturday, increasing wildfire danger.
