HELENA, Mont. —

A 62-year-old Seattle man was killed when his motorcycle struck a car that was making a left-hand turn off U.S. Highway 89 in southern Montana, north of Yellowstone National Park.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the victim's motorcycle and a car were southbound at about 11 a.m. Tuesday when the car slowed to turn left into a fishing access near Emigrant.

The patrol says the victim tried to pass the car as it turned and collided with it. The motorcycle came to a rest in the ditch on the east side of the road.

The Seattle man was declared dead on arrival at a Livingston hospital.

His name has not been released.
