An inquest jury was told that the man who was killed during a break-in at a Walla Walla store was shot in the back.
A police officer testified Wednesday that the body of Cesar H. Chavira was face down in the middle of the street. Some belts from the store were found a few feet from his body.
KVEW reports ( http://is.gd/cSQiYx) sheriff's deputies testified that five shotgun shells were found just outside the front door of the store.
The owner of the New York Store Western Outfitters, John Saul, says he shot an intruder May 4 in self-defense.
The inquest could wrap up Thursday. The jurors will be asked to determine if the shooting was justified or not. However, the ruling will not be binding on the prosecutor.
