EVERETT, Wash. —

Two bodies found in an Everett, Wash., apartment have been identified as those of a 50-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son.

The Snohomish County medical examiner's office says the cause and manner of death are still under investigation.

The medical examiner identified the dead as Sandra L. Williams of Everett and Spencer L. Williams.

The Daily Herald says court records show police determined that the two attempted suicide together in April.

Everett police Officer Aaron Snell says officers responding to neighbors' complaints about a bad smell went to the Huntington Park Apartments on Monday and found the bodies. Snell says they had been there for a significant period of time.

Snell says foul play does not appear to be a factor.
