MOUNT VERNON, Wash. —

The Mount Vernon fire chief says the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are helping investigate a church fire.

The fire early Sunday burned about 25 percent of the Trinity Lutheran Church and caused smoke and water damage throughout the building

Fire Chief Roy Hari told the Skagit Valley Herald ( http://is.gd/2Md0lr) the federal agencies keep a close watch on church fires.

With the building damaged, the congregation met Sunday on the church lawn.
