Wildfires burning in central, southeast Washington

Another fire has burned about 1 1/2 square miles in the southeast corner of the state.
No structures are threatened.
In central Washington, fire spokesman Dan Garner said late Friday afternoon that the Crane Road Fire was about 80 percent contained. Crews planned to be on the fire line throughout the night, mindful of warmer weather forecast for the weekend. That fire broke out Wednesday between Pateros and Brewster.
Deputy State Fire Marshal Ron Bowen says the state has sent equipment and a management team to help fight the Weissenfels Ridge Fire. It started Thursday five miles south of Asotin and is burning grass, brush and wheat.

Warmer weather is putting the heat on firefighters battling wildfires in Eastern Washington.
The state mobilized resources to help local firefighters at a fire burning 1,000 acres in the southeast corner of the state and at a fire burning 15 square miles of land in central Washington.
No structures are threatened.
The latest fire broke out Thursday afternoon five miles south of Asotin and is burning grass, brush and wheat.
Blue Mountain Fire District 1 requested state help Thursday night after local resources were exhausted in battling the Weissenfels Ridge Fire.
The state Emergency Operations Center at Camp Murray dispatched 10 pieces of equipment and a management team that is setting up Friday at Fields Spring State Park, said Deputy State Fire Marshal Ron Bowen.
Meanwhile, overnight winds forced firefighters to retreat at the central Washington blaze known as the Crane Road Fire. It broke out Wednesday near Pateros and Brewster. It's burning grass, brush, scattered timber and some wheat land.
About 240 firefighters are on the scene, assisted by a helicopter and air tankers dropping water and fire retardant, said information officer Dan Garner at the incident management center at Brewster High School.
Firefighters are concerned about the hot weather forecast through the weekend so they're pushing hard Friday.
The Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures in the 90s Saturday and near 100 Sunday in Eastern Washington.
"We're always concerned about hot weather," Bowen said.
