Waste Management says it plans to expand its garbage collection efforts as it deals with a truck drivers' strike that began July 25.
On Wednesday, the company says it plans to run all commercial garbage routes normally scheduled for that day of the week.
It also plans residential garbage collection for customers who normally have their garbage picked up on Wednesday in nearly a dozen cities.
Those cities include: Seattle, Algona, Auburn, Bothell, Federal Way, Kirkland, Maple Valley, Mill Creek, Redmond, Renton and Snoqualmie.
The strike affects 217,000 customers in King and Snohomish counties. Teamsters Union yard waste and recycling drivers walked out over wages and other issues. Garbage truck drivers have been honoring their picket lines.
