WENATCHEE, Wash. —

A search is under way for a small plane that disappeared Monday in the Washington Cascades on a flight from Tonasket to Sequim (skwim).

The state Transportation Department's Aviation Emergency Services says family members notified officials when the plane did not arrive.

A Tonasket man is the only person on board the home-made plane. Search spokeswoman Alice Fiman (FY'-man) says he was flying to Sequim to pick up a family member. No emergency signal has been received.

Civil Air Patrol planes operating out of the Wenatchee Airport are searching the route a pilot would take between Tonasket and Sequim.
