ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. —

Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Alex Cobb has left his start due to a bruised lower right leg.

Cobb was hurt in the second inning of Saturday night's game against Seattle when he was struck by Ichiro Suzuki's grounder.

X-rays were negative.

Cobb chased down the ball after it went toward the plate and flipped it to catcher Jose Labaton, who tagged out Carlos Peguero as he tried to score from third.

Cobb went down to the ground after the inning-ending play and needed assistance to leave the field.
