A recent DNA evidence match has led Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist to file a rape charge in the 1995 sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl near Buckley.

A cold case detective submitted evidence to a state crime lab in May and it matched a 53-year-old sex offender already in the Washington state Penitentiary on a 2007 conviction for kidnapping and raping a Tacoma woman.

Lindquist said Wednesday that he charged Donald Victor Schneider with kidnapping and child rape to obtain justice for the victim and as an insurance policy to keep Schneider behind bars.

He'll be arraigned Thursday in Tacoma.
