VANCOUVER, Wash. —

The Vancouver City Council passed a resolution Monday asking to be part of a cumulative review of a half dozen proposed coal export terminals in Washington and Oregon.

The resolution asks the state for at least one public hearing in Clark County.

The Columbian reports (http://is.gd/wTswoc) the closest proposed terminal is at Longview.

Coal companies and railroads are looking to export more coal from Montana and Wyoming to Asia. Opponents have raised concerns about long coal trains, coal dust and air pollution.
