The Yakima Herald-Republic says it has secured a contract to print the Tri-City Herald newspaper and related products.
Yakima Publisher Sharon Prill said Thursday that her daily newspaper expects to begin printing the Kennewick-based daily newspaper by mid-August.
Tri-City Herald Publisher Gregg McConnell said in a statement that his paper's presses are more than 20 years old and would have required substantial future investment.
He says the new partnership will improve printing quality for readers and provide new color opportunities for advertisers.
Prill says the Herald-Republic plans to hire additional staff and is making renovations to the downtown Yakima printing facility to accommodate the new contract.
