The arrest last month of a 17-year-old Skyway boy for allegedly participating in the beating of a stranger with a pool cue and stealing his car is the teen's sixth arrest in less than 14 months, according to court records.

Kersan Pascal pleaded not guilty Monday to first-degree robbery in connection with the June 24 attack on a man in South Seattle. Pascal has been charged as an adult in the case.

Up until spring 2011, Pascal didn't have a criminal record. He was first arrested on May 26, 2011, for pushing a woman in front of a Metro bus in downtown Seattle.

He was found guilty of second-degree assault after a bench trial, though court records show the trial judge found that Pascal did not intend for the woman to be injured although he acted recklessly in shoving her into the path of the bus.

He was also found guilty of fourth-degree assault for smacking a camera out of the hand of the bus driver, who followed Pascal as he walked away from the scene.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, was severely intoxicated and had argued with and cussed out Pascal, swatting him in the arm at least four times before Pascal shoved her off the curb in the 1100 block of Third Avenue, according to court records. She had no memory of the incident when she awoke at Harborview Medical Center the next day suffering from a brain injury, the records say.

That case was pending when Pascal was arrested in June 2011 for second-degree vehicle prowl. Pascal and two other youths broke out a window of a car parked at a Burien apartment complex and attempted to hot wire the vehicle. Unbeknown to them, the owner had removed the battery, according to court records.

Three months later, on Sept. 9, Pascal was arrested for third-degree theft at a Safeway store. The next day, he was arrested for cutting another boy with a folding knife as the boy rode past Pascal on his bicycle at the Renton Transit Center, court records show.

In October, Pascal was arrested as a minor accused of possessing liquor.

In a plea deal with prosecutors in November, the liquor charge was dismissed and Pascal pleaded guilty to the other charges and received a combined sentence — for the bus-shoving incident, along with the knife assault, vehicle prowl and theft — of 15 to 36 weeks in juvenile detention.

Pascal, who was given credit for 30 days he had served in detention, was sent to Green Hill School in Chehalis on Nov. 18 and was released on March 30, said Dana Phelps, a spokeswoman for the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration, a division of the state Department of Social and Health Services.

A warrant was issued for Pascal's arrest on June 20 after he violated conditions of his parole, including failing to report to his parole counselor, Phelps said.

Four days later, Pascal along with a 15-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were arrested on investigation of first-degree robbery, accused of attacking a man in the 11200 block of 57th Avenue South as the man returned home from a wedding at 3 a.m.

According to prosecutors, the 15-year-old girl approached the man as he sat in his car and asked to use his cellphone to call her mother. He cracked his door and dialed the number for the girl, who then allegedly sprayed him in the face with pepper spray.

The man was attacked by four or five other youths, who pulled the man from his vehicle and began to assault and kick him, charging papers say. The group of young people eventually fled and the man attempted to flag down a passing car, but the occupants "didn't want to get involved," the papers say.

The man drove a short distance to seek safety and call 911 when he was again assaulted by a group of youths, allegedly including Pascal and another boy who struck the man in the head with pool cues.

The man's car keys apparently fell out of his pocket and he saw the 14-year-old boy start up his car and begin to drive away, according to charging documents.

Police quickly found the man's stolen car with the 14-year-old inside, the papers say. The man identified Pascal, the girl and the 14-year-old boy as three of the teens involved in the assault, according to charging documents.

At the time of his arrest, Pascal allegedly had the victim's blood on his white shirt.

Though bail was set at $250,000 on the robbery charge, Pascal is being held on a no-bail hold at the Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent for his juvenile parole violation, jail records show.
