The city of Sunnyside has taken some unusual steps to isolate a gang house involved in multiple shootings.

The city annexed the house earlier this year and put concrete blocks in the street to turn it into a dead-end to stop drive-by traffic. A city building inspector posted the house as substandard June 26, meaning no one can live there until structural problems are fixed. The owner has 30 days to fix the problems or face fines or prosecution in municipal court.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports ( http://is.gd/b5dsUr) the problems include 21 bullet holes that could affect wiring.

Police say there's a history of gang-related incidents related to the house, including two drive-by shootings last month in which officers believe residents returned fire at passing cars.
