ENTIAT, Wash. —

The Forest Service says about 80 firefighters and three helicopters are hitting a 250-acre wildfire near Chelan early Friday in hope of preventing it from spreading as the day grows hotter.

Spokeswoman Robin DeMario says dry grass is burning and the fire could take off if conditions worsen.

KIRO-TV reports one family has evacuated and about 20 more are prepared to flee if their homes are threatened.

The fire broke out Thursday afternoon.

Officials closed sections of Highway 97A and the Navarre Coulee Road in the Entiat area.
