An Amtrak train struck and killed a man Monday morning on a bridge over the Wenatchee River near Cashmere.
Chelan County sheriff's Operations Chief John Wisemore says the man was hit after 6 a.m. near the center of the trestle by the train going about 40 mph.
The Wenatchee World reports ( http://is.gd/sNV01c) the train stopped on the bridge for about two hours before continuing west to Seattle.
The man's name was not released, but Wisemore said he was a Cashmere man in his 60s. His car was parked nearby at a state Department of Fish and Wildlife public fishing site.
