A 35-year-old Yakima man was found guilty in the stabbing death of another man at Yakima bar and now faces up to 22 years in prison.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reports ( http://bit.ly/LpQmT6) that Matthew David Leonard had no visible reaction on Friday to the guilty verdict on his second-degree murder charge.
Prosecutors alleged Leonard stabbed 36-year-old Jason Linder in April 2011 in anger after the stocky mechanic bested Leonard and his friends during the fight. Leonard testified he stabbed Linder in self-defense.
The case was unusual in that Linder apparently did not realize at first that he had been badly wounded and collapsed on the sidewalk while trying to walk home. His body, only 50 feet from the bar, was spotted by a passing motorist about 30 minutes later.
