The Mount St. Helens Ranger District is currently seeking volunteer campground hosts to work for part of the upcoming vacation season. They are looking for individuals or couples who have a motorhome or a travel trailer and will would be willing to spend part or all of their summer at the campground, according to a news release.

Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of at least 30 days and are required to be present every weekend. The position requires that the volunteers camp at Lower Falls Campground on the upper North Fork Lewis River along Forest Road 90. Volunteers would help the U.S. Forest Service with visitor information, restroom cleaning and light maintenance of the campgrounds.

Hosts are provided with a free campsite, an identifying sign, training materials and information brochures for public distribution. Laundry facilities are nearby and reimbursement for propane will be provided.

The Mount St. Helens Ranger District is part of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

"A helpful personality is perhaps the most important qualification for being a good campground host," said Deputy District Ranger Diana Perez in a news release. "Other qualifications include an interest in the outdoors and a fondness for people. ... Liking people and wanting to help not only affects the pleasure of campground users, but also enjoyment of being a host."
