KETCHIKAN, Alaska —

Alaska State Troopers say a Ketchikan man reported missing last weekend has contacted his family to say he's working in Portland, Ore.

Robert Hannah was reported missing by his father, Ronald Darvell. The Ketchikan Daily News ( http://is.gd/VgAaFH) reports that Darvell said he hadn't heard from his son since Hannah left Ketchikan on a ferry May 23, on a one-way trip to Bellingham, Wash.

The paper reports the state Department of Public Safety posted a missing-person notice about Hannah online Tuesday and information about the situation was subsequently published by media outlets in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.

Troopers said Darvell contacted them Wednesday to say his 19-year-old son called from Portland. They said Hannah told his family he was working at a construction company and agreed to keep in touch.
