NC-based soldier from Wash. dies in Afghanistan

A 20-year-old Army soldier stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina has died in Afghanistan after his unit was attacked with grenades and small arms fire.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. —

A 20-year-old Army soldier stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina has died in Afghanistan after his unit was attacked with grenades and small arms fire.

The Defense Department said Tuesday that Pfc. Jarrod A. Lallier of Spokane, Wash., died from wounds suffered in the attack in Kandahar province in Afghanistan.

The Pentagon said Lallier died Monday.

Lallier was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.
