Police in Monroe, Wash., say they think a group of teens is responsible for a seven-month vandalism spree that's caused more than $50,000 in damages to businesses and schools.
They blame nine juveniles. The youngest is 13; the suspected ringleader is 15.
A movie theater was targeted twice, with damage estimated at more than $30,000. Officials say the teens used knives to slash seats and a sword to cut a hole in a movie screen.
In one case, paint was poured into a fish tank, killing the fish.
Monroe police Officer Scott Kornish investigated the break-ins in his role as a school resource officer. He tells the Daily Herald of Everett that five boys could face felony counts for burglary or malicious mischief. Four others are under investigation for trespassing.
