Two people were wounded Monday in a shootout inside an apartment in Parkland.

Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer told KIRO-TV ( http://is.gd/sD6QgR) a woman and two men armed with shotguns went to the apartment to buy methamphetamine and decided to take the drug without paying.

Troyer says the resident had a .45-caliber handgun hidden under a couch. He pulled it out and started firing.

That man and one of the men with a shotgun were wounded in an exchange of gunfire. They were taken to a hospital.

The other armed man fled. Deputies took the woman into custody.
