EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. —

One of the two men injured in a helicopter crash Tuesday at an East Wenatchee cherry orchard has died.

The Douglas County sheriff's office says 34-year-old Andrew D. Ridge of Lewisville, Texas, died at Central Washington Hospital.

The pilot, 31-year-old Jeffory Walker of Laredo, Texas, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he is reported Wednesday in serious condition.

The sheriff's office says the helicopter was fanning cherry trees when it clipped power lines and crashed upside down in a cherry tree. Helicopters are routinely used to blow moisture off cherries after a rain to keep them from splitting open.

The helicopter registered to Reed Helicopters, LLC, in Laredo, Texas, was significantly damaged.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration were notified of the crash.
