ELLENSBURG, Wash. —

A Central Washington University athlete wonders how an airline could lose track of her pole vault poles.

Kati Davis had to use a borrowed pole Friday at the NCAA Division II track and field championships in Pueble, Colo., and was unsuccessful in three attempts. She had earned all-America honors in the indoor season and last year's outdoor season.

She told KOMO-TV ( http://is.gd/tuzNdg) she had paid a $200 oversize baggage fee at Sea-Tac Airport when she flew to Colorado last week, but her poles did not show up until the day of the competition. Her coach was driving to the Denver airport to pick them up and got stuck in traffic.

So Davis had to compete without her coach or poles - with disappointing results.

The airline refunded her $200.
