SPOKANE, Wash. —

Democratic State Representative Andy Billig of Spokane says he will run for the State Senate seat being vacated by Majority Leader Lisa Brown.

Brown, also a Democrat, announced earlier Thursday that she will not run for re-election. Brown immediately announced her endorsement of Billig.

Billig is a co-owner of the Spokane Indians Baseball Club. He was elected to the State House of Representatives in his first run for public office in 2010.
