A small plane made a precautionary landing on a grass airstrip near Dungeness, Wash., on the Olympic Peninsula but neither the pilot nor the flight instructor was hurt.
The Peninsula Daily News reports ( http://is.gd/cKLwVW) that the pilot said he brought the plane down Tuesday after a leak developed in the right fuel tank and the single-engine aircraft lost lift.
The pilot declined to identify himself.
The newspaper says the plane missed a 100-foot bluff by 30 yards as it landed on the private airstrip. The pilot says the prop and landing gear were bent.
