SEATTLE —

King County prosecutors have filed a second-degree murder charge against a 23-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing a man in the parking lot of a north Seattle doughnut shop.

Karen Latham was charged Thursday in Monday's death of 54-year-old Zerabruk Habtemiriam. She's held on $1 million bail with arraignment set for April 19.

In court documents, police say the victim apparently stopped his car when a woman flagged him down on Aurora Avenue North. He gave her a ride to a fast-food restaurant that shares a parking lot with the doughnut shop. Police say he also gave the woman $5 when she asked for money but refused to give her more, even when she pulled out a knife. Prosecutors allege the woman fatally stabbed him in the chest and fled.

Witnesses led police to a nearby hotel where the bloody woman was found.
