EPHRATA, Wash. —

The Grant County, Wash., sheriff says deputies have found a body in Potholes Reservoir. Sheriff Tom Jones says the body is likely that of a 64-year-old Moses Lake man who disappeared Dec. 23.

The sheriff said identification and clothing on the body found Monday afternoon lead investigators to believe it is Dan Toya. On Sunday, a friend of Toya's found the body of the missing man's golden retriever in the reservoir.

Jones says there are no obvious signs of trauma or foul play and evidence suggests the man died after accidentally falling through the ice. Detectives say he may have fallen in while trying to rescue his dog, Molly.

County Coroner Craig Morrison will complete an autopsy Tuesday, make a final ruling on cause of death and confirm the identification.

Franklin County's remote-controlled underwater robot was used to find the body.
