A 25-year-old Seattle man has been sentenced to more than 7 years in prison for illegally possessing a gun that went off on a Metro bus in downtown Seattle last May.
David Dietrick also was sentenced to three years of probation after serving his prison sentence. U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan says one person was injured when the gun went off, but he put others in danger because Dietrick went home after an argument, grabbed his gun and returned downtown.
Dietrick is prohibited from possessing firearms because of multiple criminal convictions, including drug possession and burglary.
Durkan says investigators determined the gun had been stolen from the City of Snohomish Police Department.
