MUKILTEO, Wash. —

A Seattle police detective accused of causing a four-car crash north of Seattle has pleaded not guilty to drunken driving.

Mukilteo, Wash., police reports say a nearly empty vodka bottle was found Thursday in the vehicle driven by 46-year-old John Fox of Everett.

Police in Mukilteo say Fox was driving an unmarked police SUV when he reportedly rear-ended another vehicle. That vehicle was pushed into two others. No serious injuries were reported.

Police say Fox refused to take a field sobriety test or submit to a blood alcohol breath test.

The Daily Herald says Fox did not comment after his brief appearance Friday in Everett District Court.

A Seattle police spokesman says the detective is a 23-year department veteran.
