Even though Group Health members pay no deductible, only 3,000 of 13,000 employees have selected the plan. That could change when the county renegotiates health-care providers next year.
No matter which plan they pick, employees receive a monetary break if they also join the county's Healthy Incentives program.
Today, 90 percent of county employees take a wellness exam through Healthy Incentives, and 80 percent complete an individual action plan, said Brooke Bascom, who works on the county's wellness plan.
An $800 deductible on the KingCare plan goes down to $600 if the employee takes a health assessment, and it drops to $300 if an action plan is completed.
A Group Health co-pay for a doctor's visit drops from $50 to $30 for those who do the health-risk assessment and to $20 if the action plan is completed.
