SEATTLE —

The second-largest wine company in Washington state is changing its name.

Precept Wine Brands announced Thursday that it will now be known as Precept Wine.

CEO and founder Andrew Browne says the change signals the company's evolution from an organization focused on marketing and sales to a fully integrated wine company with vineyards, production facilities and tasting rooms.

Seattle-based Precept Wine is an owner or partner of more than 40 wine brands throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Australia. The company's largest brands include Waterbrook, Magnificent Wine Co., Washington Hills, Sagelands and Canoe Ridge Vineyard.
