Zebigo.com ride-sharing site goes live Wednesday

The new Zebigo.com ride-sharing website, in which passengers pay to be matched with drivers, will go live Wednesday in the Seattle area.
About 500 people already have signed up, said Jonathan Wolff, chief operating officer. He said the company hopes to expand to 15 cities and widen its scope to include airport shuttles, town cars or taxi matchups.
For a typical 13-mile trip, a rider would pay $5 to the driver, plus a 49-cent fee to Zebigo. Money is passed via the website, so none changes hands in the car. For many people it will be cheaper than driving and parking, and it causes less carbon pollution, Wolff said.
Another company, Avego, has launched an instant ride-match service for commuters using the Highway 520 floating bridge, where tolls will be reimposed later this year, under contract with the state Department of Transportation.
