The guided-missile frigate USS Ford departed its Everett home port Monday for a six-month deployment in the western Pacific.
Naval Station Everett spokeswoman Kristin Ching says the Ford, which also carries helicopters, is capable of a variety of missions, including fighting piracy and drug smuggling.
The 453-foot ship has a crew of about 200. It's one of three Everett-based guided-missile frigates. The others are the USS Davis and USS Ingraham.
