The driver of a Volvo station wagon lost control early Tuesday on Northeast 80th Street in Seattle, went airborne and ended up on Interstate 5 in a badly mangled vehicle, the Washington State Patrol said.
The 23-year-old driver, who was traveling east on Northeast 80th, apparently overreacted at another vehicle's maneuver and lost control, driving down a grassy embankment and vaulting into the air, said Julie Startup, WSP spokeswoman. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, she said.
The man, who was from Bellevue, was placed under arrest for investigation of driving under the influence, said Startup. The 1993 Volvo 940 was totaled.
