The King County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday identified Andrew M. Fox as the man fatally shot by police Thursday at a gas station in Bellevue.
Fox, 25, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to investigators.
According to Bellevue police, Fox apparently told a clerk at a Chevron station in the 1600 block of Bellevue Way Southeast to call 911 around 2:30 a.m. Thursday because he was taking the gas station hostage.
He refused to let two employees and two customers leave, but walked outside when police arrived around 2:35 a.m., said police spokeswoman Carla Iafrate.
Fox advanced toward two officers, holding a butcher knife up in an overhand grip, Iafrate said. A third officer saw the suspect and was able to yell a warning to the other officers.
The two officers fired, killing the man, she said.
