WWU freshman Dwight Clark had blood alcohol of 0.13 when he drowned

Western Washington University freshman Dwight Clark, who drowned in Bellingham Bay in late September, had an alcohol level of 0.13 when he died, according to the final autopsy report released Wednesday by Whatcom County medical examiner Gary Goldfogel.

The autopsy also found marijuana in his bloodstream. There was no evidence of trauma.

Clark, 18, from Auburn, was last seen alive Sept. 26 after attending an off-campus party. After a massive search, his body was found Oct. 6 floating in a log lagoon on property owned by the Port of Bellingham, about a mile from the party. His death was determined to be accidental.

In a news release, Bellingham Police Chief Todd G. Ramsay said the autopsy results mean the case is closed.

"The tragic accidental death of a bright and vibrant young man has had a tremendous impact on our community, but it is with Dwight's family and close friends that we send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers," Ramsay said.
