Clallam County armored personnel carrier unused
The Clallam County sheriff's office says it's nice to have an armored personnel carrier, even though the vehicle hasn't been used in an actual crime since it was acquired eight years ago as military surplus.

The Clallam County sheriff's office says it's nice to have an armored personnel carrier, even though the vehicle hasn't been used in an actual crime since it was acquired eight years ago as military surplus.
The 15-ton tank-like Peacekeeper is used in training and could protect deputies from gunfire.
It has a top speed of 45 mph and gets about 4 miles per gallon.
Chief Criminal Deputy Ron Cameron told The Peninsula Daily News it's nice to have the vehicle available. But county engineer Ross Tyler jokes the county could get more use out of it by putting a snowplow on the front.
