A workout for firefighter trainees

Firefighting crews from Sea-Tac and Bellingham airports participate in training exercises at the Washington State Fire Training Academy in North Bend as part of a three-day annual certification. The state-of-the-art facility is the only one of its kind in the Northwest. Airport fire crews attempt to eliminate 90 percent of a fire's intensity within the first minute of the first crew arriving on the scene. Real jet fuel is used to simulate an emergency. It burns between 400 and 800 gallons per minute.
