Vancouver man shoots pregnant woman, deputy
Police say a Clark County sheriff's deputy was not injured in a shooting at a Vancouver house where a pregnant woman was wounded and the gunman took his own life.
The Associated Press
Police say a Clark County sheriff's deputy was not injured in a shooting at a Vancouver house where a pregnant woman was wounded and the gunman took his own life.
Sgt. Scott Schanaker says there's no word yet Wednesday on the condition of the woman.
The Columbian reports the deputy was apparently protected by armored equipment.
The woman had called 911 about 8 p.m. Tuesday and said she had been shot in the abdomen. Police and deputies responding to the scene found an armed man holed up in a shed where shots were fired.
A SWAT team used tear gas and tried to talk the man into surrendering but a robot showed him dead just before midnight.
The Columbian reports a 38-year-old man and his sister lived at the house.
