Man killed on train tracks in Sumner Friday evening
An Amtrak train struck and killed a man Friday evening in Sumner. The man stepped behind a southbound Sound Transit train and onto adjacent tracks, where he was hit by an Amtrak train, according to Gus Melonas, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman. Sound Transit Sounder trains 1515 and 1517 will be significantly delayed.

The man stepped behind a southbound Sound Transit train and onto adjacent tracks, where he was hit by an Amtrak train that was traveling northbound, according to Gus Melonas, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman.
The incident occurred at about 6:05 p.m. on Zehnder Street in Sumner.
The fatality was the 16th individual death on BNSF tracks in Washington state, Melonas said.
Two Sound Transit Sounder trains, numbers 1515 and 1517, to Tacoma will be significantly delayed because of the accident, Sound Transit says. Buses are being dispatched to pick up passengers at the Auburn and Sumner stations.
