After documenting several instances of drug activity and other crimes in the past 60 days at the Fremont Inn on Aurora Avenue North, Seattle police and the City Attorney's Office have given the owners seven days to respond and "correct the nuisance" or face fines of $500 a day, according the Police Department's blog.
The notice was issued Wednesday to Fremont Inn and is the first time the city has used a Chronic Nuisance Ordinance that took effect this year. The ordinance is invoked if there are three or more "nuisance" activities at the property within 60 days, or seven in a year.
