USAID official visits Seattle to talk development

SEATTLE —

USAID administrator Rajiv Shah is speaking in Seattle on Friday about the impact of technology on global development.

Shah left a job at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to go to Washington, D.C., to work for the Obama administration. He was first tapped to be an undersecretary in the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and then appointed as administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development.

In addition to Shah, scheduled to participate in Friday's discussion on the ways technology can help the poor in other countries are representatives of Washington State University, Microsoft and the Gates Foundation, as well as the president of local global health technology company, PATH, and U.S. Rep. Adam Smith.
