Man climbs TV tower on Seattle's Queen Anne Hill
A man climbed almost to the top of the KIRO-TV tower Thursday night on Seattle's Queen Anne Hill — and made it back down without harming himself.

A man climbed almost to the top of the KIRO-TV tower Thursday night on Seattle's Queen Anne Hill — and made it back down without harming himself.
The climb snarled traffic in the area and attracted a couple hundred onlookers.
Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman Dana Vander Houwen said the tower is about 600 feet tall. The department was first called at about 8 p.m. when the man was already 50 feet up. Fire crews initially geared up to climb the tower, but then the man made it to the top and began descending, she said. Crews decided not to go up because they didn't want to slow his climb down.
After a slow descent, the man was finally back on the ground by about 9:15 p.m. He was taken away in a police car.
One witness, who had been drinking, said he knew the man and suggested he may have attempted the climb on a dare.
