What's open, closed for the holiday

Sunday is the legal Fourth of July holiday. Monday is the federally observed Independence Day holiday.

• Most banks and credit unions closed.

• Most government offices closed.

• Post offices closed; no home mail delivery.

• Schools and public libraries closed.

• State-run liquor stores with regular Sunday hours will be open on July Fourth from noon to 5 p.m. (Store schedules and phone numbers are on the state Liquor Control Board's website: www.liq.wa.gov.) Most state liquor stores will be open regular hours Monday, closing at 7 p.m. Some contract stores may be open both days.

• Metro Transit buses will run on a Sunday schedule both July Fourth and Monday, with Sunday fares both days. Many commuter bus routes will be out of service Monday.

• Metro's customer-information phone lines and all Metro offices will be closed Monday. Most transit information is posted online: www.kingcounty.gov/metro.

• The King County water taxi between downtown Seattle and West Seattle will run its Sunday schedule July Fourth, and a regular weekday schedule Monday. Runs are scheduled late Monday after the Mariners game. The free water-taxi shuttles, Routes 773 and 775, will run on a Sunday schedule July Fourth and a regular schedule Monday.

• There will be no downtown Seattle-Vashon Island water-taxi service.

• Sound Transit trains and buses will run on their usual Sunday service on July Fourth, and holiday hours Monday.

• There will be no Sounder commuter rail service, and Sunday schedules will apply for all ST Express buses, Central Link and Tacoma Link light rail. There will be no special-event Sounder service Sunday.

• Community Transit's bus and DART paratransit service will be out of service Sunday and Monday.

• Washington State Ferries' Seattle-Bainbridge Island route will run on a regular summer Sunday schedule on July Fourth, and on a Saturday schedule on Monday.

The Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth and Point Defiance/Tahlequah routes will run on their regular summer weekend schedule on July Fourth, and on a weekend schedule Monday. The Point Defiance/Tahlequah route's weekend schedule includes an extra midday run at 12:50 p.m. from Point Defiance and 1:15 p.m. from Tahlequah.

The Seattle/Bremerton, Anacortes/San Juan Islands, Port Townsend/Keystone, Mukilteo/Clinton and Edmonds/Kingston state ferry routes will operate on regular summer schedules all weekend.

At Kingston, the annual Fourth of July Parade passes near the terminal and is expected to cause delays for ferry customers offloading and departing there early Sunday afternoon.
