Linehans' mother can monitor her awaiting retrial

A woman out on bail while awaiting a second murder trial in Anchorage has someone else to watch her - her mother.

The Associated Press

ANCHORAGE, Alaska —

A woman out on bail while awaiting a second murder trial in Anchorage has someone else to watch her - her mother.

The Anchorage Daily News reports a judge added Mechele Linehan's mother, Sandy McWilliams, on Wednesday to the list of third-party custodians approved as monitors.

Linehan was released last month to third-party house arrest, except for two four-hour periods a week.

A trial date has not been set. Linehan's first conviction in 2007 was thrown out by the Court of Appeals.

The 37-year-old from Olympia, Wash., once worked as a stripper in Anchorage. She is accused of conspiring with a man to kill another man in 1996 for his life insurance payout.
