Washington ferry system using Internet to rebuild ridership
Washington State Ferries hopes a promotional campaign boosting Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas will help it recover lost ridership.

Washington State Ferries hopes a promotional campaign boosting Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas will help it recover lost ridership.
The $1 million marketing campaign promotes destinations and events on the west side of Puget Sound. Getting to those events means riding the ferries.
The Kitsap Sun reports the goal is to build ridership when there's space on the boats, not during commute and peak travel times.
Ferry director David Moseley says the campaign is using the Internet - Twitter and other social-networking sites, and videos.
