Mark Mitsui has been named the next president of North Seattle Community College effective July 1.

Mitsui is now vice president for student services at South Seattle Community College. He's well-known for his presentations on diversity and student retention, the Seattle district said.

Mitsui, 52, has previously worked as a tenured instructor at Renton Technical College, as an assistant dean at Green River Community College, and in a variety of administrative roles at North Seattle.

Mitsui replaces Ron LaFayette, who retired at the end of last year.
